Sustainable Skyscraper

As we are starting to experience the effects of global warming, we also see that notable high-rise buildings are becoming more and more idiosyncratic. These new icons are inefficient if measured by the total amount of energy required to design, fabricate, erect and operate a large building. Is it possible to integrate highly sustainable energy producing components into a modern skyscraper and have it be an icon too?
